The True Story of Zelda Pinwheel (written by her only official biographer, the amazing Mr. Jeremy M. Deline, to whom she is truly grateful for more than just the biography) Geraldo lied. When he broke into Al Capone's vault, there was something there.She was waiting on the Gulf coast for Hernando Cortes and his men--but there are rules that govern history, and those who govern such things stayed her hand, unfortunately. She spent much of the succeeding centuries manning a one-woman field hospital that travelled from the mountains of Peru up to the Arctic tundra and back down, treating those who were suffering from disease. For most of the 19th century, she was known as Driftwood Annie, and lived in the mountains of Colorado. The name of the town is long forgotten-virtually its entire 'permanent' population (57) was wiped out in a eighteen hour period of violence in September of 1881, shortly after James Garfield was shot and killed. There were rumours and stories about sightings of her during the next fifty years, but she did not resurface until World War II, when she aided the Oceanic Mammalian Alliance, who were mostly trying to stay the hell out of the way of our torpedoes and depth charges. She wrote extensively in the 1950's, and flirted with literary stardom before dropping out of the scene after getting into a brawl with Jack Kerouac in 1959. It is said that Kerouac never recovered from this fight. Not much else is known about Zelda's activities until she resurfaced in the 80's, and although rumours of a copy of her manuscript "Fists of justice" being found in Chicago continue to circulate, it has yet to see the light of day. Since that time, she has played in a Heavy Metal band, done accounting work for the royal family of Monaco, built a series of aquaducts for the people of Madagascar, developed a vaccine for earwax, and obtained numerous academic credentials. She currently resides in Alberta, within sight of the Rocky Mountains, and works as a high-priced hitwoman for Ms. Magazine. Her favorite number is purple. Her favorite food is 17. Her favorite colour is pickle. She has a wonderful home named Mike, and rarely, if ever contemplates breaking the first seal and loosing Wormwood on the earth. Her name is Zelda Pinwheel.
